Valor Act Veterans OUI
In 2012 the Massachusetts State Legislature passed the Valor Act. In 2018 the Valor Act was amended under legislation known as the Brave Act.

The Valor Act and Brave Act legislation establishes a diversion program for Veterans charged with OUI or DUI.
In order to qualify for the Valor Act or Brave Act, an individual must:

Be a Veteran or Active military in the United States

Be a first time OUI offender

Complete an assement provided by the Veterans Administration

If the court, based on your assessment, finds that your are a suitable candidate for the diversion program established under the Valor Act, you will be provided an opportunity to pursue this option.
If you successfully complete the treatment program, the presiding Judge has the discretion to dismiss your case.
