OUI Conviction
An OUI conviction carries serious penalties

Here in Massachusetts potential OUI penalties can be:

  • A sentence of 2 ½ years in jail.

  • A minimum $500 fine up to a maximum of $5,000; and

  • A 1 year loss of license

Alternatively,  Massachusetts offers a 24D disposition for a First Offense OUI.

This sentence is known as a Continuance Without a Finding or CWOF.

Essentially a person who receives a CWOF admits "to sufficient facts" and agrees to go on a period of probation.

In addition to the sentence of probation, the first time offender will be required to complete an alcohol education program.
